Throughout the whole day there will be activities in the streets and sporting facilities of the municipality

Benijófar will become a sporting stage tomorrow, the 22nd of June, on which there will be activities for all ages organised by the town hall.

The day will begin in the morning with a football championship between schools from across the Vega Baja, bouncy castles, free entry to the municipal swimming pool and the closing ceremony for the municipal sports schools. At 5:15pm the afternoon session will begin with an exhibition of aquatic Zumba, followed by a series of activities planned by Vegafitness for a charity gala to raise funds to buy a mobility harness for the local boy Manu Mernárguez, who is 13 years old and is severely disabled.

At this gala there will be a spinning masterclass, Zumba, fitness training and a kick boxing exhibition. Also in the afternoon there will be an aqua aerobics exhibition in the swimming pool at 9pm the night-time fun run ‘La Milla Azul’ (The Blue Mile), which will cover the streets of Benijófar starting and finishing at the municipal sports centre. To finish the day there will be a party in the pool with nocturnal swimming.

All these activities are part of the Town Hall’s Sporting June programme that began on June 4th when the World Cup and two European Cups won by the Spanish national football team were on show. Throughout this month, the Sports Department has put on talks, videogame parties, healthy walks, games of pádel and bicycle rides for the whole family.

The last activity is the ‘En Duro’ bicycle ride on Sunday, which will cross the Sierra de Crevillente mountains and is classified as medium-hard in difficulty with a duration of about four hours, organised by the local club, the Peña Saltacostones.
