Two earthquakes shake the Vega Baja within less than 24 hours

The earthquake measuring 3.2 on the Richter Scale and with its epicentre in Guardamar del Segura was felt all over the area

A second tremor with its epicentre to the south of Guardamar shook the Vega Baja at about 15.30 on Thursday. The earthquake measuring 3.2 on the Richter Scale and registered 9 kilometres deep, according to the Seismic Information Service, was felt with particular force in Torrevieja.

Guardamar Guardia Civil confirmed to this publication that there had been no material damage. Officers did have to reassure some residents who were worried by the tremor that shook everyone up for some seven seconds.

It was the second seismic incident within less than 24 hours after, at about 5am, an earthquake measuring 2.4 on the Richter Scale with its epicentre in Rojales woke up residents in neighbouring municipalities like Almoradí, Benijófar, Formentera del Segura and Torrevieja. Rojales Local Police also told this publication that it had not caused any material damage.
